Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Carpenter Bible Commentary ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Description of Service

Carpenter Bible Commentary is a mobile application that provides the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible alongside verse-by-verse commentary based on Matthew Henry's "Commentary on the Whole Bible." The App is designed to run offline on your device.

Free and Premium Features

The App is available for free and includes full access to Bible text and commentary. Certain additional features — including prayers, bookmarks, and highlights — require a one-time premium purchase through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

All purchases are processed by Apple or Google, and are subject to their respective terms and refund policies. We do not process payments directly.

Content and Intellectual Property

The Bible text used in the App is the King James Version, which is in the public domain.

The commentary is based on Matthew Henry's "Commentary on the Whole Bible," originally published between 1706 and 1721, which is also in the public domain.

The modern English paraphrase of the commentary, the App design, logo, and all other original materials are the property of Carpenter Bible Commentary and may not be reproduced or distributed without permission.

User Content

Any content you create within the App — including notes, highlights, bookmarks, and prayers — is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your content and are not responsible for any loss of data due to device failure, app deletion, or other causes.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App for its intended purpose of personal Bible study. You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Redistribute or resell the App or its content
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted. The commentary is intended for personal study and reflection and should not be considered a substitute for professional theological counsel.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Carpenter Bible Commentary shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
